I love Asian aesthetics, mechanical engineering and things that transform, the simple bench is a Venn diagram of those things. I also love Venn diagrams. Proportions of the Simple Bench are inspired by Chinese farmhouse benches, lines are from Japanese architecture and construction utilizes tenets of tension and compression.
